Who writes on HostPilote

Our team: who we are, what we compare, and why we read the renewal terms before the promotion.

Independent editor, former SMB network administrator

Independent editor for 12 years, former network administrator of a French industrial SMB (Cisco CCNA 2014). On HostPilote I compare web hosts, VPS and cloud providers from their published specifications, renewal prices and guarantee terms, read on the official pages and dated.

My career started in 2010 as network administrator of an industrial SMB: three sites, two firewalls, servers to maintain and hosting to choose for internal tools and the company website. That is where I learned to read a hosting offer by its renewal price and cancellation terms, not by its first-year promotion. Since then I have edited independent, affiliate-funded sites. On HostPilote every price, quota and guarantee carries the date it was read on the provider's official page. When a promotion changes, the article is updated or the figure is removed.

Technical review

Comparisons that contain figures (prices, quotas, guarantee lengths) are reviewed before publication by checking each value against the provider's official page on the stated date. We publish no private lab measurement: only public data the reader can verify.

  • Price and terms review

Every quoted price is re-read on the provider's official page: promotional price, renewal price, commitment length, VAT included or not. A price that cannot be re-read is removed from the article.

  • Specification review

Storage, traffic, number of sites, backups, data center locations: read in the provider's public documentation. An undocumented feature is not asserted.

Editorial standards

Every article published on HostPilote follows this process, without exception or shortcut.

  • Dated, sourced figures

Every price, quota or duration carries the date it was read on the official page. Promotions are presented as promotions, with the renewal price next to them.

  • No fabricated tests

We present no measurement as coming from a private lab. What we could not verify publicly is not asserted.

  • Recommendation independent of commission

A better-paying host is not better rated. Criteria are public (Methodology page) and applied the same way to everyone.

  • Disclosure on every page

Affiliate links are disclosed at the top of every article and on the Our review page.

  • Visible corrections

A reported error is corrected in the article with the update date, never silently erased.
